Attack of the Hawk

by Jim Nowhere

Attack of the Hawk has grown as a song from its sparse beginnings in 2011, passed over on the full length Devil’s Convent as I thought it needed a bit more work and a fuller sound then just an acoustic guitar and a little bit of layered distortion.
After having coffee with producer and friend Layne L’Heureux it was decided to be one of two tracks to be recorded to apply for an Edmonton Arts Council grant, had the grant been approved you would have been seeing the release of Let Them Prey, the long awaited follow up full length. At this time it’s still in the works, life just has a funny way of taking us down paths we didn’t intend to travel. I’m on one now, and its been a journey that I hope will come through in the final product.

Recorded over a couple cold winter evenings in January 2017 with friends, old and new, at Discount Sound Studios in Edmonton Alberta.

Track Name: Attack of the Hawk
Oh the hawk; he waits

Oh the hawk; she swoops

Oh the hawks they fly
Let the bombs fall down from the sky red, white, and blue

Attacking all the others for a big piece of the pie

Asserting their control of all things in their eyes

Let them prey: on the weak

Let them prey: on the old

Let them prey; Let them prey; Let them prey; Let them prey

The hawk gets what he wants

Oh the hawk; he sleeps

Oh the hawk; they hunt

Maintaining the threat of attack in the new world and the old

Going after field mice in the bitter cold

Preying on the other birds all they say is true

Let them prey: on the weak

Let them prey: on the old

Let them prey; Let them prey; Let them prey; Let them Prey

Let them prey: on the weak

Let them prey: on the old

The hawk always gets what he wants

No matter how the story is sold.
